A beginning!
This is not the first Blog I’ll author, nor will it be the last, of that I’m certain. Life has brought about changes and while I’ve a tendency to resist change, I ultimately grab it and move forward.
Ch Ch Ch Changes…
I’m working out of my home to accommodate the needs of my children. This is so different from being surrounded by people 6 days a week and almost 365 days a year. Staff, consignors, customers and friends. The most difficult part of this change is the isolation after being around so many people for so long. But, I’ve found staying busy really does help.
And, I’ve a few things in the works…
I’ve been selling on eBay on and off since 1998 and I’ve decided to take those selling skills further. I’ve become an education specialist trained by eBay and am offering classes on the “Basics of Selling on eBay”. This will help with the isolation. I’ve created a website which can be found at How Do I Auction It (clicking on the link will open a new window) . This should be fun and will help some people along the way as well.
I’m creating and updating some websites as well. I really enjoy this creative side of my accountant nature. Additionally, while in the resale biz, I enjoyed the creative aspect of marketing and promotion which in-turn ties into the Internet and websites and such.
I love the resale business, I love the Internet, love websites and I love technology. I think I may have found a niche for myself.
Last year at the annual NARTS Convention, I was a workshop speaker. My workshop was centered around the importance of a website in the resale industry and how to go about getting one or doing one for yourself. This was the first major presentation I had done in a number of years and of course I was nervous. But I know my stuff, if you will, and it was probably one of the most natural presentations I’ve ever done. It was FUN!
Again, this goes to my feeling that I’ve found a niche for myself. More to come on “why” resale websites are a niche.
