Being in the know
With blogs and reviews all over the internet how do you find out what’s being said about your business in your industry in your community or surrounding area?
Sometimes we don’t want to know what’s being said, but we all know that even if it’s something negative that’s our cue to provide the right information and correct the perception of your business.
Google alerts are your tool to finding out both the positive and possibly negative.
Go to Google Alerts, key in your search terms – for example you might want to enter consignment store, resale store, Your town’s name and so on. Then you can choose to only get alerts for news, blogs, groups, or general web. Or, you can choose a comprehensive alert which takes all those into account. Enter your email and click create alert. You’ll receive a confirmation email which you must respond
back to prior to activating your alert.

With your keywords you may get other things in your alert which don’t specifically apply, but those that do are worth theirweight in gold just to stay in the know without having to spend time looking. Additionally, in many cases you can respond or change a negative perception.
Perhaps though, you’re being spoke of highly – enjoy, because it’s you that created
that perception and it’s being shared with the world.
